About PAC-3

  • Unmatched, Combat-Proven Capability
    • The PAC-3 Missile Segment Enhancement (MSE) family of missiles are combat-proven Hit-to-Kill interceptors that defend against modern and emerging threats, including tactical ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, advanced threats and aircraft.
    • PAC-3 missiles defend against incoming threats through direct body-to-body contact delivering exponentially more kinetic energy on the target than can be achieved with blast fragmentation mechanisms.
    • The PAC-3 MSE builds on the combat-proven Hit-to-Kill PAC-3 Cost Reduction Initiative (CRI) by significantly increasing agility, range and altitude with a two-pulse solid rocket motor.
  • Ramping Up to Meet Demand
    • PAC-3 has consistently increased production rates on PAC-3 MSE since full-rate production began in 2018.
    • Lockheed Martin signed a landmark framework agreement with the U.S. Department of War to rapidly accelerate the production and delivery of PAC-3 MSE interceptors, tripling annual capacity.
  • Integrating for the Future Fight
    • On April 21, the U.S. Navy announced a $93 million contract award to Lockheed Martin for the development, integration and testing of the PAC-3 MSE within the Aegis Combat System.
    • PAC-3 MSE features flexible integration capabilities with advanced IAMD systems to counter evolving threats.
    • PAC-3 MSE delivers increased performance against next-generation threats through hardware and software upgrades and when paired with advanced sensors.
    • PAC-3 MSE is a true IAMD effector integrated into the Patriot system, THAAD, Navy Aegis, F-35 sensors, the Integrated Battle Command System and LTAMDS radar.
    • With Lockheed Martin’s missile uplinker, the RIG-360, the PAC-3 missile is radar agnostic capable of supporting “any sensor, best shooter.”

  • Furthering Global Security
    • Seventeen nations have chosen PAC-3 CRI and PAC-3 MSE to provide missile defense capabilities.
    • Demand for PAC-3 MSE’s combat-proven deterrence capabilities continues to grow around the world.
